Alex LaFollette
Treasurer
Hello, my name is Alex LaFollette. I am originally from Boise, Idaho where I completed my undergraduate studies as a Bronco from Boise State University with a bachelor’s in biology with an emphasis on molecular, cellular, and biomedical sciences. Currently, I reside in Columbus, Ohio where I am now a Buckeye from Ohio State University. I am a second year PhD student in the MCDB program. My home department is in neurological surgery where I study traumatic brain injuries and how they may lead to dementia later in life. I look forward to working more closely with women in STEM throughout my duration serving as a board member for the local chapter of GWIS.

Hi! I’m Shubhangi, a second year PhD student in the Ohio State Biochemistry Program (OSBP) and an avid science lover. I’m excited to be part of the GWIS community and serve as General Body Coordinator. I joined GWIS to connect with like-minded women and contribute to a community that uplifts and empowers future scientists. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, drawing, and exploring Columbus!

Electra Coffman
Mentorship Coordinator
I'm Electra, a fourth year PhD student in the Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) program. I am excited to serve as the mentorship chair for GWIS this year. I believe one of the most important jobs of a scientist is to effectively communicate science to our communities and to mentor our future generations of scientists. I grew up in Texas and moved to Ohio to begin my professional career here at OSU. I enjoy playing video games, photography, painting, and reading in my free time.
